Beyond the roaring equipment and crisscrossing pipelines at production sites in industries like petroleum, chemical, and natural gas, another "silent guardian" also works silently—the continuous emissions monitoring system (CEMS).
In this photo (see below), we installed a DOAS-2000 continuous emissions monitoring system at a natural gas processing site. It continuously monitors the concentrations of key pollutants in flue gas, providing data support for safe operations and environmental compliance.
Why continuous monitoring?
During natural gas extraction and processing, flue gas may contain a variety of gases, including SO₂, NOx, H₂S, HF, NH₃, and VOCs (benzene, toluene, xylene, etc.).
If these gases exceed emission standards, they are not only harmful to the atmospheric environment but can also endanger worker health.
Traditional "manual spot checks" take a long time to complete, fail to reflect emission fluctuations in real time, and struggle to detect anomalies promptly.
Therefore, national environmental protection regulations explicitly require that key emission sources must be equipped with CEMS to achieve real-time, online, and around-the-clock monitoring.
How the DOAS-2000 System Works
Our DOAS-2000 utilizes differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS) technology, offering the following advantages:
Simultaneous Multi-Gas Measurement: It can simultaneously monitor NO, NO₂, SO₂, O₂, and optionally H₂S, NH₃, and HF.
Extraction + Heat Pretreatment: Ensures accurate analysis even in high-humidity and high-dust conditions, preventing data distortion caused by condensation.
High Sensitivity and Stability: Optical measurement offers strong anti-interference capabilities, minimal long-term drift, and low maintenance costs.
Compliant Data Output: Data can be directly connected to the Environmental Protection Bureau's platform and meets national standards such as HJ75/76.
Real Application Case
In a natural gas processing project at Sinopec, the on-site conditions were complex, with high flue temperatures and high moisture content. After commissioning, the DOAS-2000 system installed by our team has achieved stable online monitoring of SO₂, NOx, and O₂:
Real-time data upload: Concentration curves are displayed in real time in the control room, allowing managers to understand changes in operating conditions.
Excessive emission alarm: Once abnormal emissions occur, the system immediately issues an early warning, enabling rapid action.
Compliance report generation: The system automatically generates daily and monthly reports, facilitating environmental compliance filings.
For businesses: Helps meet environmental compliance requirements and avoid penalties; while also optimizing processes through data analysis to reduce energy consumption and emissions.
For governments: Provides reliable emissions data to support air pollution prevention and control efforts.
For the public: This means cleaner air for everyone and a safer living environment.
